ADELE’S WHAT TO BRING LIST

  1. ____ All copies of W-2s, last pay stub (teachers: June AND Dec.), 1099s, SSA-1099 (Social Security), K-1s, tips, unemployment, state refunds, gambling winnings, alimony, jury pay, all miscellaneous income. Pay stubs if you have overtime hours. Driver’s license!
  2. ____ Stock sales: 1099-B. Bring when you bought it and what you paid for it. This includes commissions, fees, reinvested dividends, and employee stock purchase sheets.
  3. ____ For self-employed: Summary of income and expenses by category. Total auto mileage for 2025: business miles, personal miles. Health insurance paid.
  4. ____ If you hold a mortgage or sold on land contract: Name, Address, and Social Security number of the buyer and the amount of interest and principle received in 2025.
  5. ____ Closing statements, both old and new, if you bought, sold, or refinanced your home in 2025.
  6. ____ All year-end mortgage loan statements, including those refinanced or paid off.
  7. ____ Real Estate Taxes (Town & School) paid, shown on property tax receipts or escrow statements.
  8. ____ Medical expenses (totaled), medical miles, and long-term care insurance paid per person.
  9. ____ Contributions: Official receipts from charities or a list of the organizations and the total amount donated in 2025 by check or credit card. A list of any clothing or household items donated with their Fair Market Value. Volunteer miles and out-of-pocket volunteer expenses.
  10. ____ Classroom teaching supplies. All other employee expenses are deductible only on NY and PA returns, not the federal, unless you are a military Reservist. Gambling losses.
  11. ____ Childcare: the name/address/social security number of all child care providers and the amount paid to each one for each child.
  12. ____ College tuition (Form1098-T is required), books, and fees paid. Any NY 529-plan contributions. ANY 529 withdrawals or rollovers.
  13. ____ IRA balances as of Dec. 31, 2025, and any rollover or transfer information (1099-R).
  14. ____ Energy-related home improvements: windows, doors, HVAC, insulation, solar, etc.
  15. ____ Date and amount paid of any estimated tax payments made. Include Jan. 2026 payments.
  16. ____ If you are a NYS resident, any sales tax owed for out-of-state purchases brought into New York State. Also, any sales tax or interest paid on a vehicle or boat purchased in 2025.
  17. ____ 2025 checkbook registers and credit card statements so you can answer my questions!
  18. ____ New clients only: a copy of your 2024 tax return (2023 and 2022 also, if possible).
